Now, the main power of NATO organisation is in its Article 5 which states that if any country attack on any member nation of NATO then all the member countries of NATO would jointly attack on that country in retaliation.

Joining of North Macedonia in NATO leads to trouble for Russia.
As, Serbia remains the only country in the Atlantic region which is a supporter of Russia and also, Serbia is not a part if NATO.
So, there is a decrease in Russian influence in this region.
Serbia is also being pressurised by US on the issue of Kosovo by recognising Kosovo as independent nation.
● Why Serbia not joins NATO ?
Ans:- In 1999, NATO had bombarded Serbia and Montenegro.
In 1999, US and some NATO countries had stated that peoples of Serbia and Montenegro is doing racisim against Albanians living in that countries. So, member nations of NATO heavily bombarded in Serbia.
Serbian people has not completely forgot about that incident and hence, not joined NATO yet.
